Joanne Korte

Joanne Korte is a passionate optometrist who joined the Hilliar & Gray team in 2022. She completed her Bachelor of Optometry at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2012. Her areas of focus include diagnostics, paediatrics, and Low Vision, and she was lucky enough to spend a semester studying optometry in Sweden during her time at university.

Joanne started her career in Durban in 2013 and has been serving the community of Pietermaritzburg since 2017. With over 12 years of experience, Joanne is committed to delivering exceptional eye care services to her patients. She has a special interest in Low Vision and has been working with renowned Low Vision optometrist Joanne Kalil to bring this service to Pietermaritzburg.

As a member of the South African Optometric Association, the Health Professions Council of South Africa, and the Graduate Institute of Optometry, Joanne is dedicated to staying informed of the latest developments in optometry.

Joanne is also a proud mother to a baby boy and loves spending quality time with him and her husband, whether they’re out exploring, taking walks in the park, or relaxing at home.
