Paul Naudé

Paul was born and educated in Pietermaritzburg and graduated as an optometrist in 1980. He spent his second year of national service in hospitals in the greater Durban area, under the watchful eye of Dr Neville Welsch, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at Natal Medical School. Dr Welsch was Paul’s inspiration to increase his knowledge in all aspects of eye disease.

Paul practised with his father until his retirement in 1997, during which time he was afforded the opportunity to spread his professional wings, serving on various bodies including the directorate of the SA Optometric Association, as well as the Professional Board for Optometry at the then SA Medical and Dental Council. In 1995, he obtained a Fellowship in the prestigious American Academy of Optometry, sitting his exam in New Orleans.

Paul holds several certificates of advanced study in various aspects of disease, contact lens fitting and related aspects, obtained through the New England College of Optometry, Boston, thereby expanding his knowledge of disease further.

Paul is excited to have joined the Hilliar & Gray practice and looks forward to providing care at a high level and keeping an eye on your eye health and vision.
